My incredible wife has been offered and accepted a fantastic job opportunity up north. So, after 30 plus years of Teaching, Coaching, and Playing Golf Professionally here in southern California, my family will be relocating so I can support her career like she supported mine for all these years.
As many of you have often heard me say, I love what I do, and I would continue to teach and play golf as long my body would still allow me to participate and the passion, vigor and enthusiasm are still there. Unfortunately, the energy and desire is still there but some physical injuries from back in my youth as a Marine have finally caught up with me. These injuries not only make it difficult for me to play golf but sometimes to even stand or walk. Although my knowledge and experience (craftiness) have allowed me to fake my way though it the last few years, in the end, I believe everyone wants a teacher who can at least "a little bit" walk the walk and not just talk the talk.
I would like to thank all my students for an amazing journey. I have built some priceless relationships and deep friendships over the last 30 years which I will always remember and cherish. I did my best to learn something new from every lesson I gave. I can guarantee you I have learned as much from you as you did from me not just in golf but life. I hope all of you would agree I did my best to take an interest in you as a person first and make each and every one of you feel at least for that "one hour" you were my most important client. 😊
For anyone looking for a quality instructor I am recommending my good friend and colleague Craig Hatfield PGA at the Navy Golf course. (949-330-3942)

Learning and truly understanding importance of swing fundamentals is critical in being a proficient golfer. Mastering the fundamentals and nailing down a solid swing makes it easier to recover when things start to slip away. (They will…its golf!) No two golfers are the same and no two ever will be. We each have characteristics about ourselves that will make our swing unique in some way. That is why as we start to discover through time, lessons and practice what works best for our own personal swing. As golfers we always want to have the fundamentals to fall back on. In order to stay consistent we must remain fundamentally sound.
The fundamentals should always be the building blocks of a solid golf swing.

Although it often goes against popular choice of many newer students, equal time spent on the short game and the driving range is paramount in becoming a well-rounded player. Chipping, pitching, sand and putting (scoring) is more than half of your score. The short game is the most overlooked part of golf for new students. The typical new golfer wants to head straight to the range, grab a driver and rip it! You will find the more experienced player spending far more time on the short game compared to the range. Getting the ball in the hole in fewer shots in the end is ultimately, what make the good golfers good.
